At the request of the industry, Koelnmesse is permanently postponing the date of spoga+gafa to the first half of each year.
Despite the total area being almost fully booked in spring 2020 and thus an excellent registration status for spoga+gafa, the current Covid-19 developments and the economic situation are having an increasingly strong impact on the situation of the trade fair. The news of new cases of infection in Germany also played a role. In addition, the travel situation, especially at the intercontinental level, remains uncertain at present. A large majority of exhibitors and trade visitors have therefore decided not to visit spoga+gafa in recent weeks. Even the intensive preparations for the trade fair and the #B-SAFE4business package of measures to ensure that the trade fairs are held in compliance with Corona regulations were ultimately not enough to calm the uncertainty of those involved in the trade fair. For this reason, Koelnmesse has reassessed the overall situation together with the Advisory Board and decided to comply with the cancellations and wishes of a large number of exhibitors and visitors in the industry and not to hold spoga+gafa 2020. In addition, the event will be permanently rescheduled. The next spoga+gafa will therefore take place from May 30 to June 1, 2021.

The growth of spoga+gafa in recent years in terms of exhibitors, space and visitors was generated by particularly close cooperation with the garden lifestyle industry. Koelnmesse has always placed the needs of its industries at the centre of its actions. The development of spoga+gafa into a globally relevant value-added and communication platform was and remains the strategic focus of the trade fair's orientation. Building on this, Koelnmesse says it has used the influences of the recent past and, together with the committees involved, has discussed the future date of the largest garden lifestyle trade fair in the world.
Oliver Frese, COO of Koelnmesse, on the relocation of spoga+gafa to the first half of the year: "The aim of our discussions with the industry is to give a strong trade fair the chance to gain even more strength and market relevance. The focus of our analysis is the order behavior that has adapted over the years within many parts of the industry.
